May 29, 2009 - New Tender

Morning View has a fiberglass dinghy, but it is pretty unwieldy to move around, especially by one person.  We decided to buy a kayak to get back and forth to the mooring.  After looking around for weeks on Craigslist, boat stores, outdoor stores, newspapers...we were ready to give up hope (or at least I was).  Sit on top, sit in, ocean, one-person, two-person....

We went down to Bass Pro Shop on Memorial Day and took a look again.  They had an Old Town Canoe Vapor 10 kayak.  It seemed to be what we were looking for, and the price was decent.

We tried it out in the pool that night and it's actually pretty stable, even with a 2 year old in it.  I've used it several times already to get back and forth from the mooring.  It stays pretty dry, even with a light chop in the river.  Not that you would come straight from work and hop on it, but relatively dry.

I'd recommend this kayak now to anyone.
